urgent could someone local to luton lend an eglu 4 tonight

Recommended Posts

hi there

could anyone that lives local to luton or hitchin please lend me an eglu (green eglu) for the night. I want to see if i can get my buff orp cock and two girls to fit in it, and also see if it cuts down the cock a doodle noise levels a little.

I do have an eglu but my ducks (duck)(white duck) are already in it and i dont want to confuse them or their egg laying by sticking them into the cube (cube green) for the night.

happy to pay some sort of deposit. No run required. promise i will clean down with virkon after use and return at the weekend.

thanks

Can't lend you an eglu I'm afraid. But I can tell you a cockerel is still noisy in one. We muffle our eglu by putting a thick rug on top, and bags of compost ( sides and top- not to cover ventilation) and face the eglu to a brick wall to absorb the worst of the noise from Phillip the Polish Bantam!! It helps having very tolerant neighbours too. Hope you find a solution.

thanks for that. how many do you have in your eglu?

i off sick at the minute and killed myself yesterday trying to put loft poly board stuff into the cube to see if it made a difference. it did until they all decided to pull it off the walls and sit on it instead, at about 7am then the volume went up again.

i did try a few months ago putting both our boys into our duck eglu when we first got it, seemed to cut down the volume a little as its closer to the ground and gets absorbs. Rather than up high in a cube and gets foghorned across the garden and up the street.

neighbours seem to be ok at min! its more me and my husband keep getting woke up at 5.45 am and he works shift so he isnt very impressed at the minute. So we had to rehome one boy last weekend. Would do anything to keep this one though he is lovely

We have 3 in the eglu, all Polish Bantams so lots of space for the crowing to echo round. He's not too bad (or am I deluding myself?). Crows about 6 times at 5ish, then 6ish then that's it really till he and the girls are let out at about 8.30 when it's intermittent through the day. But the days don't bother me as there are plenty of other noises as well.

We've asked the neighbours and so far they all say how nice to hear him....

In case of emergency, we have a dog crate ready and plans to bring him in overnight so he can go at the very back of the coat cupboard in the centre of the house. Actually, I bet you can still here him outside even then!

How about Omlet designing a crow -proof eglu/cube?? Cockerel owning would increase considerably in one go!
