Please, can we all put our comments about this under this thread and then I will e-mail Gateshead Housing Company giving them the link to the thread and to enquire why these people are facing eviction and just exactly what the issue is?

 

I'd also copy in their MP...

How is keeping chickens any different from keeping any other small animal, like a rabbit? People don't complain about dogs who make much more noise than chickens.

I feel very sorry for these poor pensioners. All they want to do is keep chickens and feed themselves with the eggs. Shame on the council for hounding these poor people.

From the clip on the news, I don't think the couple are going to give in easily. There should be made aware of the support behind them as it must be very stressful. I hope I'm still keeping chickens at 80+. The MP's support will be crucial so it may be worth making him aware of the indignation we all ( I hope it is all) feel.
