Plum
I found Grackle had a prolapse today. I put it back with gentle pressure but is there anything else I have to do now? She is her normal self and has laid each day for the past 18 days approx 75g eggs. I'll check her each day for a bit. Thanks
munchkin
Hi I had the same experience with Barbara 2 weeks ago. The 1st thing i did was clean her feathers as Prinny took an interest in the blood and had pecked her a couple of times. I cleaned her feathers and vent with slight salty warm water. Eglutine advised to remove her from Prinny and keep her warm in a box for the night. I put Barbara in a cat carrier basket - -in our dining room - filled with hemcore (and a snugglepad under the hemcore). I put a towel over the carrier so inside was dark. This helped her to stop laying eggs as i think they need light to do this. I left her in the carrier all afternoon and during the night. The next morning i let her back in with Prinny and let them free range for a couple of hours. I fed her on 2 weetabix, mushed up with warm water and dash of milk so she would not eat the pellets so to slow her egg production down - i fed her weetabix for about 5 days along with greens. She was very slow and not herself for a couple of days but she has now made a full recovery I occasionally add limestone flour to the pellet porridge each morning to ensure she is getting the calcium she needs to help her in the future (even though they have access to poultry grit 24/7). Hope this helps

Plum
Thanks Munchkin and Egluntine. Luckily she's fine at present. I'll see what happens when she lays in the morning. It's too late to take your advice to stop her today. I'll let you know.

Plum
She layed of course but no sign of a prolapse so I don't know why I found it yesterday. She has been a bit squity so maybe that has something to do with it. Shall I give her the weetabix or will it make her more squity or the otherway? She's acting normally this morning. She did a really stinky ceacal poo when I picked her up and her aim was pretty good. I'm off for a bath.

You have such a way with words. I'd leave her on her pellets and see how she goes for now.
