my chickens are living in a cube and so far, so good. I don't think they know how to use the superglug though - so regularly putting in a big bowl of water which they drink from no problem.

 

To get them used to the superglug - should I leave them with no water bowl ? Or how do I encourage them to drink from the superglug.

 

I'm amazed at how much water they drink and don't want to leave them thirsty...

If you give them a bowl of water they will use that so you could try taking it out on a day while you are around, some people tap the Glug with a stick to make the water drop so the chickens know what to do

We got a superglug for our mk 2 eglu and we kept touching the bits that the water comes of and they quickly got used to it on the first day! Maybe our chickens are extra intelligent!!!

Mine prefer the glug but will use the superglug if there is no option - they will get the hang of it!

We've got three chickens who are fine with it and one who will only drink from it by jumping up on it and putting her head in!

 

It's going to be a problem in the summer because I think her weight combined with a full superglug may cause some damage to either the run, the glug, or the girls if it falls off.

 

Think we're going to have to fashion some sort of protective lid or mesh for the top to stop her doing it.

we have a cube but have given up with the Super glug.... we now use a green and white plastic poultry water mushroom thing, but they prefer to use the Grub filled with water.... they love it!!!!

 

We found that they did not get enough from the superglug and some would not use it at all to the extent that we had a dehydration issue last spring as they couldnt fathom it out

I had to sit and tap the metal bits so they came and looked and got used to it - mine all got it in the first day that way.
