eggmayo
Hi, My ex-batts (battery hens 6 weeks ago) are really starting to behave like little dinosaurs now. Today they were out free-ranging and Chilli suddenly lept out of the border with something in her beak and ran round the back of the eglu away from the others. I was amazed when I went to investigate what she'd got-a live newt. If I hadn't shooed her off it, I'm sure she'd have ripped it to shreds and eaten it. She certainly wasn't happy with me stopping her fun, but I think I've managed to get back into her good books by finding her a slug. She ran off with the slug chuckling happily away to herself and wouldn't let the others anywhere near it. I just hope the newt will be OK. Snowy
Lovely to see them learning how to be real chickens again isn't it? (even if it does mean them turning into terrorists!) Poor newt, hope he survives his ordeal!

Hen Watch
she'd got-a live newt. Oh yes....... tasty. And frogs, small slugs, flying ants, worms, centipedes..... all eaten by my "vegetarian pellet eating chickens"..
pinkmagic
Just reminds me, I saw a duck at our local city farm trying to swallow a whole frog last week!!
