Redwing
Someone is selling chickens on Ebay for £1 I am not sure it would be the first place people look for chickens, I wonder if they sell many.

Redwing
Not very good at links - try this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Egg-Laying-Organic-Free-Range-Chickens-Hens_W0QQitemZ180337247904QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Pet_Supplies_Poultry?hash=item180337247904&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1686%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

Guest
Does that place really exist Unless u live down the road it will probably cost in fuel to get there..sounds v strange advert...oh well good luck indie
Redwing
Google Earth shows that as a farm all right and there are sheds in the field so it all looks legit, just a strange way of selling chickens! Hopefully they have advertised locally too as the ad is bound to get pulled from ebay and it would be a shame if they can't rehome the hens
Minnie the Moocher
It looks like they have a cull day coming up and thought they would take a leaf out of the BHWT book. I'm sure it will be removed as it's against ebay rules.
Guest
looks like a free range farm trying to rehome their spent hens. I thought it was going to be Joe public trying to sell theirs off. I hope they gets lots of takers and the girls get lovely new homes.
SAB
I sent them a friendly message giving them the heads up on the likelihood they could get into trouble from ebay, which would be a shame as they have 100% feedback rating. Hopefully they take my message in the spirit it was intended.

SAB
Great idea to post this Poet as likely to be pulled from ebay, which would be a shame
Guest
hope the seller doesn't mind but I've put it in the market place area of practical poultry too.
Egluntyne
It will get pulled as the selling of live animals is in breach of ebay regulations.
MadMitch
Does that place really exist Unless u live down the road it will probably cost in fuel to get there..sounds v strange advert...oh well good luck indie It does exist, he's not a million miles from me, all the local people I know who have chickens get them from him. He also has notices up around all the towns and villages. He hates having to get get rid of them and tries to home as many as he can. Barkisland
Crumbs! I suppose I must be very naive, but I really didn't realise free range birds were culled at 72 weeks in the same way as battery hens Well done to the farmer for trying to rehome his girls
SAB
I hope that the farmer ended the listing themselves after I tipped them off that ebay might pull it as I would not want them getting in trouble with ebay (fellow ebayer will know how paranoid you get about getting any negative feedback!). Hope they find homes for the birds and Poet posting in some sites will no doubt have helped. Pity it is so far away.
Guest
What a shame hope he is allowed just this once to keep advertising especially as it is a mercy advert....hope they get them rehomed.. indie
Guest
that's a real shame! I have posted the ad in a few chicken/self sufficient type forums. If anyone knows of any more forums maybe they could post it too?
Guest
Well i hope he is successful and good luck for trying to advertise the plight as I too never realised they were doomed after 72weeks..unless they can be rehomed..at least it has highlighted this issue Hope the advert gets about in Wales area ...must be free ads around etc for the area indie
