Spilt feed.....

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone

My girls have developed the annoying habit of emptying half the contents of the grub onto the grass in the run, this then gets left and due to a history of rats in my garden is not ideal. Does anyone have any tips to solving this, perhaps a different type of feeder, I have seen the galvanised trough types and also the plastic ones with what looks like an upturned pint glass on a dinner plate.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Cheers

Darren

Mine now do this the minute they arelet out i the morning - they go at the grub ike they are possesed with their beaks knocking it all out - I stand there and wonder what the are looking for! Its as if they are saying "there must be something better in here somewhere"!

I now fill it up a little less and will see if that will help.

I may put something under it to catch the knocked out food as suggested.

They are right little pickles.

They will do that, it's just down to the way that they feed; they just like to rake through their feed. I have the pellets in a glug, which is impossible for them to rake anything out of. I also have a gravity feeder so that they can all get space to feed.

Troughs are OK, but I found that they stood (and pooed) in it.
