3hens2cats
Hi there, Do you mow your lawn or not? Everywhere around the eglu really needs mowing and then I intend to move the eglu to rotate the ground which it rests on. But after the neighbour started his mower this mornng and the ladies all looked a bit surprised (to say the least, our layer was shouting at the top of her voice), I am not sure what to do. Do I lock them in and just get on with it or do I let them in the kitchen (yes, I am mad). Totally lost on this one! thanks to Fudge Crumpets behaviour I think the neigbours that weren't aware of their existence now are thanks again Naomi and the chorale of chickens
Matthew
they'll be fine... I mow right up to close to the run no problems...
C&T
We've had the electric drill in the garden, drilling through concrete with little problem. Not sure they actually liked it, but they just went to another bit of the garden and continued scratching about quite happily looking for all things slimy to eat... girlsmum
My 3 girls are put in the closed run and when i start up the lawn mower they all run into the eglu and stay there until i stop mowing. Then they come back out and seem fine. Girlsmum
tidygirlsuk
Mine hide in coop 2 while i'm mowing and stredding, but these things need to be done. i'm hoping that they will get used to it. We'd all have jungles if we didn't, he he. i understand your concern. i wouldn't let my children shout when i first got mine, but i've calmed down a bit now. good luck

Guest
In a wish to be green (and to keep the chickens quiet) - I bought a handmower!! I only have a small lawn and I find it quicker than the flymo! - I am finished and putting it away in no time - the flymo had to be cleaned, s"Ooops, word censored!"ed etc and all leads all would up.....I wish I had gone back to one years ago! Hangman
Our hens mow our lawn for us
Olly
I mow right up to the run - but be careful, sounds obvious but things can fly off the mower, especially if you hit a stone or something - I only mow close to the run when they are not in there, in case anything hits them! 3hens2cats
thanks for you advice, I think initially I will mow with them in the run and the next time let them do their own thing. Thanks again Naomi
Guest
I have a ride on and you've never played chicken till you've played it with a chicken! My June WILL NOT move - she stands there pecking away and I end up stopping before I hit her. Then she will amble off in her own sweet time. All of my other girls have been a little wary at first but soon start to take no notice. Good job because unlike most people I LOVE mowing the lawn. Riding around on the mower is very relaxing. Valkyrie
We haven't needed to mow at all at the back, but there was plenty for them - not sure how it will handle this coming winter - we've dug up a fair bit for veg. At the front, well that looks lush.
