Here the update begins

 

Egg 1 pipped at 1pm, hasn't advanced since then, I am presuming its fallen asleep.

 

Egg 2 pipped at around 7pm, had a quick peek about 40mins ago, and I think its advanced a little bit more

 

Someone has been peeping, so here's hoping for more. I think it'll be tomorrow til I see chicks, but I will keep updates til I go to bed at around 1am.

I'm trying to only check every hour. At half past, nothing had changed I don't think, possibly chick 2 had made the hole a bit bigger, but I can't be sure

 

 

ETA I have 6 eggs each of orpingtons, silkies, marans and araucana(?mix) eggs in there. On candling, 4-5orps looked fertile one silky egg was fertile, one looked to have died young, can't see into the marans, and i think 2-3 aracuana eggs might be lucky

 

So a possible (and only possible) hatch of 7-9 eggs, plus some marans. I am expecting only about 1/2 of those to hatch, I haven't had good feelings about this hatch

Another pipper, bringing the total to 3

 

I *think* they are a partridge silky, a blue orp, and the 3rd I *think* is orp, but may be aracuana, I can't tell without taking them out and comparing them side by side (I am colorblind.. rare for a girl.. Thanks Dad!)

the ?silky has zipped a line about 1cm long, and the ?orp egg is not far behind.

The ?aracuana pipper I have lost.. I can't see the hole anymore, but equally I am VERY sure I saw one. Off to bed now, will have to see what is there in the morning

At least one chick is cheeping loudly and i can confirm at least one hatchling will arrive and that it is a silky. S/he is half unzipped, and the ?orp egg's hole is getting wider. This is too exciting lol

just two more pippers. The unzippers from last night seem to have stopped, and so we'll just have to wait and see. Am not gonna help any chicks out.

I bet you hardly got any sleep My incy was in my bedroom and the night mine were hatching I was up and down like a yoyo. I couldn't sleep because I could hear peeping and the sound of them pecking the inside of the egg!

We're up to 3 pippers (it looks like 2 orp and an aracuana) and the unzippers have made no progress. I don't have a good feeling about them

No sign of life in the maran eggs which i am quite bummed about. Cross everything that at least 1 of the 6 will hatch!

first chick (blue or black orp!! Result!) is out and hollaring up a storm. Next chick (aracuana i think) is about half out. The other two unzipping ones, still nothing, another orp egg has pipped and i think well fell asleep, although for how long with the hollaring i don't know!

i've tried, but my incubator is rubbish for taking photos in. You will have to wait for them to dry off and be moved i'm afraid!

Whatever is hatching looks to be yellowy, so may not be aracuna as first thought!

the araucana has made a decent hole now, and i think the yellowy chick is a splash orp. It also looks like its intestines are on the outside of its body, but I can't see very well through the incubator, and I daren't open it. This is proving to be a very poor hatch

Below are links to the pics of the ?splash chick with the dodgy attachment that I and a friend can't decide if its gooey poo or something sinister. CLICK AT YOUR OWN RISK, IT MAY DISTRESS. As the chick is currently very bright and hollaring away, I haven't culled it, and probably wont til someone confirms 100% what it is.

the second, it looks more sinister to me I'm afraid

don't take my word for it though! I've never hatched before, it's just, to me, it doesn't look quite right.

I'm not convinced it looks quite right either, but another forum were unanimous that they were normal shell contents and membranes.

 

So I think time will tell. Both chicks are currently sleeping at the moment

If they are normal membranes, they should come away with a bit of a gentle wipe, or as the chick fluffs up.

 

They don't appear to be coming from its abdomen as the intestines on my poor little 3rd chick were. It was weak and feeble to and definitely not as lusty looking as your little chap.

 

I'd hang on a while and review.

They seem to be drying up along with the chick, and the chick def has a working pair of lungs on it So chick count seems to be static at two orps!

I think its another orp, but wouldn't like to put money on it. . Whatever it is the little sneak has just arrived from no-where!!
