Can you put grit in their Grub with their pellets or should it be given in a seperate place? Would round a tree where they lie and bathe be a good place?

I think it's up to personal preference . I put mine in a separate coop cup in the run but I know some add it to the pellets. There would be no harm sprinkling some round a tree but they'd probably find grit there by themselves in any case if you didnt'!

I have a seperate coop cup that i put it in - never gets touched though!

 

Sometimes when I make them some porridge I add some grit to it.

My grit is also in a seperate coop cup they don't seem to touch it for ages, but they do freerange every day, and then it suddenly goes down. They know when they need it.

Mine is in a little clip on cup that I picked up from the pet shop (I think it's a budgie seed holder!). I think my chickens are unusual because everyone else seems to have problems getting their hens to eat grit.... mine scoff down loads of it! The breeder told me when I picked mine up that if they were free ranging they should eat enough grit from the garden to cover their needs - but as mine are in the run during the day I leave them a full pot which they nibble at whenever the fancy takes them

I have a cage cup of grit on each run for them to scatter all over the ground, and the little angels pick up grit where ever they free range too.

Same here...suddenly all vanishes after not being touched for days.

I have mine in one of those large half moon shaped clip on parrot feeders you can get from the pet shop, just clipped on the side of the run.
