Our chicks are getting themselves out of bed which is bliss on a Sunday! However we were all woken to loud alarm calls yesterday am at around 7am. looked out in the garden expecting to see a large predator..nothing, couldn't fathom it out until we went outside to try to hush them up (it was a real racket )

 

And there it was a big hot air ballon! they really didnt like it

 

Mind you it was red and we though that maybe they thought it was a giant cherry tomato!

Perhaps they thought it was coming to get it's revenge!

Its funny, lots of animals don't like them - I guess if you are small they would seem terribly big and noisy

my lot dont like hot air balloons either

 

funny things arent they?! They will also stand and stare at the tiniest aeroplane in the sky aswell.

I went out to check on my girls in the pouring rain with a big umbrella for protection... and they were terrified The bok boking and running into each other to get away would have been comical if they hadn't been so upset

 

Naturally I had to quickly get rid of the umbrella and produce some corn to take their minds off the shock. Then I had to get very wet as I sorted out their food etc. Lol

 

I wonder if big objects look like predators and kick off some primeval instinct

I think it's a natural instinct. Mine were really creating the other day and I couldn't work out why - until a neighbour asked me if I'd seen the red kite circling around!

My lot created one day and I couldn't work out what it was. Realised it was the window cleaner next door up a ladder. Must have looked like a human preditor in the sky....
