ljdandjojo
Hi everyone I'm a newby and need a little advice. I moved my girls across the lawn at the weekend and now have a problem with brown flies on the patch of lawn where they were before.
Egluntyne
Welcome to the forum. I'm not sure that you have posted this in the best place for the subject matter. Hopefully a mod will pop along and move it for you. Not sure what the brown flies could be tbh, but a useful tip is to have a few drops of citronella in a rag or tissue near the Eglu as it helps deter beasties. sandyhas3chucks
Got any Diatomous earth or StylosanF ? Or how about good old fasion killer fly spray, after you have got your gorls safely away from any chance of breating it in too.
annettec
Although this is disgusting, but I often find brown flies around the dog poo in the garden! Think they are a kind of poo fly as look different and seem to almost burrow in the poo ,yuck I guess they are attracted to the Chicken poo but not sure how you would get rid of them other than the posts above, once i have poo picked up they seem to disappear but thats a bit more tricky with the chickens. Sorry not much help
Guest
oh i think u mean they are a really light brown fly more yellowy brown..if they are cant think of their blooming name but they have appeared v recently and love manure(my horse manure in particular is covered with them)...saw it on dog poo just now out walking. I think thats the fly u mean..probably more interested in the wonderful aroma..will rack my little brain for the type indie

Henhathnofury
Fly trap you can buy. No poison, just a bag with an attractant in it that drowns the "Ooops, word censored!"s. We never do without one.
chelsea
why not blast the area in question with the hosepipe to get rid of any residue of poo. I use a home made spray in a spray bottle of water with some drops of citronella, eucalyptus & lavender oil in - shake it up and spray - lovely!
