chickinboy
Hi all, My White Star has stopped laying - or at least I thought she had. twice this week we've had a random yolk in the house, with a strange white membrane type thing - she lays white eggs, so I presume this was a shell? I always imagined that softies were just softer than normal shells, but this is nothing like a shell, apart from looking like it was originally egg shaped. It reminds me of a rubber swimming cap. Does this sound like a softie? She's being laying for a month, and everything was fine until this week. I've got grit in the food, in a seperate container, and scatter some about in the wood chip. I've been advised to get limestone flour, so I'll hunt for that, as I've not seen it in my local countrywide store. Could it be anything more serious? Egluntyne
Sounds like a softie. You can get limestone flour from ebay, as sold for reptiles. A dollop of cod liver oil added to the pellets will assist with its metabolism. A soluble calcium supplement such as Zolcal D is another option. chickinboy
great - thanks for the advice. Ordered the stuff. I hope they can't overdose on as it I've been so worried about it I think I've ordered enough calcium supplements for several horses! I love this forum....it's genius!
