Shallow I know But I wondered if any of you have had it done, if you were pleased with the results and if you could recommend anywhere either in Kent or Essex.

 

The reason being that my ED is getting married in June and I had been on a diet so I'd look nice in the wedding photos, but my mum's been in hospital since the end of January so needless to say that with all the rushing around my diet's gone out of the window and I've put most of it back on

 

So plan b is to get my teeth whitened and dazzle everyone with my lovely smile So I'm hoping that as usual you come up trumps for me, I rarely buy or do anything without checking this forum. So this may be my last post now I've revealed how shallow and sad I am

You're not at all shallow and sad . Now if you were planning to get your teeth filed down so your incisors no longer showed, I say yes you were .

 

I'm sorry to hear about your mum and that dieting has been difficult (not surprisingly ).

 

I've no experience or advice to offer, just wanted to say go for it . Nothing like a lovely white smile (not too white, though ).

Sorry to hear your mum's been ill, no wonder you gave up the diet. Afraid I can't offer any advice either - I've had so many dental problems that I won't risk anything unnecessary on my teeth! However a colleague at work had his done and I must say they looked marvellous. I could ask him where he went but I'm not back at work till next Wednesday.

 

It's not shallow - if it makes you feel good, do it. I don't see why it's any worse than dyeing your hair.

Thanks ANH, Incisors filed down? I was gutted when at the age of 13 I had to have one incisor taken out and a brace to move the remaining one to into it's rightful place, Oh how I loved my fangs You'll be pleased to know that I'm not after "Tippex teeth"

 

Dieting is hard for me anyway as I have an underactive thyroid and as my parents live over 50 miles away, I'm forever driving up and down the motorway and if I'm not at work I'm with them, thankfully I have a wonderfully understanding husband who cooks and cleans too Mum's come through a chest infection, a hospital acquired stomach bug, a perforated ulcer and peritonitis so it's not been the best start to the year! She's still not able to come home as despite doing fantastically well with physiotherapy and being more mobile than she was 5 years ago! She's got a necrotising ulcer on her left heel, a gaping stomach wound from the op as they took her stitches out too soon and a badly infected pressure sore on her sacrum and for some reason they aren't able to control her diabetes at the moment! Apart from that she's great.

 

Thank you for replying and I hope things are good for you at the moment, sorry I haven't kept up to date I haven't had much spare time lately.

 

Thanks to you also Olly, I'm a bit hesitant as I don't have many problems with my teeth and am scared of possibly causing any, you say it's no worse than dyeing your hair but I don't do that either I really am a big chicken!

I've just about finished a complete dental makeover which included Zoom whitening. It takes 40 minutes in the chair, I finished mine off at home with night plates as my teeth got really sensitive after half an hour. It does make your teeth a bit ouchie for a week or so but the results are stunning and I'm absolutely delighted.

I've never had my teeth whitened, but know that it can look really good.

 

One thing, please check that the person doing the treatment is qualified to do it. And I do mean the person and not the dental practice itself. I know of many situations where staff do whitening treatment without the correct training. Not saying they do a bad job, I'm sure in the majority of cases they do a great job but if anything were to go wrong....

 

Sorry if that sounds negative. Like I said, it can make your teeth look fab and you should go for it if that's what you want!

I used night plates with syringes of a whitening gel supplied by my dentist. I am very pleased with the results, but I didn't use all the syringes as I didn't want to dazzle people. I wanted the result to be naturally white looking teeth, not a glow-in-the-dark grin.

I have a friend at work (whose Daddy is LOADED!) who has her teeth whitened - every month! She pays about £250 a pop and also has a thing to wear overnight which she sometimes keeps in for the next day too.

 

Mind you she also has a colonic every couple of months - basically most of her salary goes on maintanance!!! She is a very attractive young lady but BOY is there some upkeep going on - goodness knows what that'll be like when she gets older!

 

She does swear by the teeth whitening though.

Not sure as I want to go there - too much info- even if you did do that (colonic) not tooth whiteneing would you tell anyone I mean its hardly the conversation one wants at the dinner party is it esp over a curry or summat
