John n Marjie
Hi all, as a new member can I get in on this discussion. We have been keeping up to 4 hens in a 4'x6' secure run with raised coop inside it. This is works fine but naturally they want more space so I made a larger open run to let them out into when we were home. The cheeky foxes took no notice of our proximity however and we have lost a few birds now. We have decided to go for an electric net to protect four chickens. The space i have available means a 25m net is too long and only around 15m would be needed. I can only find 25m for sale. Do you know anyone that sells a shorter net or is there an easy way of dealing with the excess netting? I assume you cant just roll up the excess or it will short out but can you cut it easily? Any other ideas gratefully acepted
Ain't Nobody Here
Welcome to the forum, John & Marjie . Sorry to hear you lost some girls to the fox . Sounds like electric netting is the way to go. I have some Omlet netting (but not electrified). It's easy to cut but I'm not sure how the electrification works. There is some Omlet netting for sale here but I don't know where you are, so it may be no use. There are sometimes forum members who will sell shorter lengths of Omlet netting - keep an eye open here or you could post a "wanted" here. Or you could buy the 25m from Omlet yourself and sell the excess on the forum .
