Poultry grazing pasture question

Recommended Posts

Has anyone tried seeding their chickens' area with this: http://www.thegrassseedstore.co.uk/500-poultry-grazing-pasture-p-309.html?

We've fenced off the bottom third of the garden for them, moved the Eglu and extended the run, edged the base, moved shrubs and planted three new fruit trees. The aim is to provide an area with an 'orchard' feel that will produce fruit as well as eggs (spoilt rotten, they are!).

However the grass is, well, gone. Totally. We don't think turf would last 5 minutes with our three hungry ladies grazing and scratching at it. This is designed for rotational grazing of poultry so we'd have to keep them out of an area at a time and re-seed.

OH found this online and it looks ideal for our purpose, I just wondered if anyone could recommend (or otherwise) it?!

Our girls are on 'pasture' or 'paddock' grass which is meant for livestock. It's great and they don't seem to affect it at all. Thye have been in the same fenced area 12m2 for 3 weeks and you'd never know they'd been there. I do pick all the poo up every day to keep it clear.
