Chickens in Berkshire

Recommended Posts

Hi,

We're in the throes of upsizing from a Eglu to a Cube and are giving our Eglu to my Aunt. I've said we'll take her out to get some chicken when we deliver it and set it up for her, and wondered if anyone had any recommendation for where to get chickens - hybrids - in the Wokingham area.

We normally go to Cotswold Chickens, but that a bit of a trek form Wokingham!!

I've seen Mother Hens Poultry mentioned and wondered if anyone had any experience of them. Also, whereabouts are they? I know they're near Reading but that still covers quite a big area!! I can understand that they don't give out their address unless you make an appointment to visit, but it would be useful to know rougly where they are!

Thanks for any thoughts!

This is a link to Hook House Farm in case you want to check that out. That is where I just got my two new girls from. I did originally get a Sussex but she wasn't very well and they were really helpful.

Be careful with the parking if you do go there. I made a bi of a wally of myself!

Tell us more!

No seriously.. thinking of going there myself soon so could do with any tips re parking issues!

There are loads of signs outside directing you to not park on the neighbours' land. So, I went into the drive. I didn't think that we would be there for long so I wasn't the tidiest of parkers. About two minutes later a truck delivering huge amounts of stuff arrived! The timing was immaculate!

Other times there have been no problems at all. I guess I was just lucky on that occasion!

Hi, off topic I know,

Can't help with chickens as I got mine from Omlet and one from the Millers, Meadowsweet agent in High Wycombe. But if you Aunt is in Wokingham and needs chicken supplies, I get all my layers pellets, Auboise bedding, AVC, garlic powder, dried corn, limestone flour, from the Eileen Douglas Tack Shop in Wokingham.
