How do you do this?

but as a linkable url thingy. You know, you can click on it and it takes you to a web page, but you have clickity click or as above written instead of the url.

I've been trying to work it out for ages.

I must do something else with my evenings

Ta! :D

Open a new window with the internet link you want to insert, select the address (http:// etc) and copy it.

Now go back to the window with the Omlet forum open in it, and find the button (only visible when you're in 'Post a reply') marked URL. That will insert http:// in your text.

Now put your cursor in between those two, where I've put the asterisk: *, backspace once, type in = and then paste.

This will give you [ url=http://etcetera]* (NB: I've had to put a space in the formula here, otherwise I got a highlighted asterisk!)

Now put your cursor back in between the two sets of square brackets, and type the word you want to highlight. Try 'Preview' to check it's working, you should have a highlighted word that makes a link!

That all sounds complicated, but once you've done it a couple of times it's easy - copy the link, press URL, add the = and paste the link, and then type the word in between the brackets. Go on, try it - you know you want to!

Now I really do feel like a numpty! I can do the link thing but have to open another tab with the instructions from the How to Use the Forum bit so I can keep cross referring and it takes me an age! |

I also learnt by pressing 'quote' button (Top right of everyones post) on a post that had a link added. It then shows the whole text 'in computer speak' so you can see how someone has does it. Try it on Egluntines post. Press 'Quote' and you'll see [ url=http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=14635][b ]**here**[ /b]

Of course she's also made it bold and added a colour but that is easy too. You just select the strip of text you want to change and click the B button

You'll get there

well, I looked in he frequently asked questions section at the top but it wasn't there. Eventually found it under the how to use the forum section. I think some things do need a clean up on the board, just to make things easier to find. I do always check as much as I can before posting a question as I don't like to feel I am wasting anyones time.

Thanks for all your help :D

Could you let me know what needs addressing in the FAQ section on the forum please so that we can make it easier to use. We can't do anything about the FAQ at the top of the page as that is generated with the forum software but we can add to/alter the FAQ sections in the middle of the board if you can give us some suggestions to make it more user friendly.

There isn't anything wrong with asking questions either as there's always someone who is happy to help :D .
