*mummy_hen*
Picked up the holiday eglu yesterday for my girls, set this up at my mums and was actually quite excited to see how they got on. Couldn't sleep all night worrying that they aren't going to be happy in it, aren'tt going to like the 5 minute journey in the car, basically worrying about everything!! I want them to go to my mums as they will be with people, get to come out and free range a lot more than if my mum just came here and fed them/put them to bed. Also woke up and the weather is "Ooops, word censored!" so wishing i didn't have to go away in 3 hours!! Please reassure me that they will be fine, do chickens adapt quickly to new surroundings? moochoo
They will be just fine. Chickens are very adaptable. Just think about the Omlet chickens. They go from a large flock at Banbury, put into carriers in the van and transported all over the place for miles. They cope just fine. I know your ex batts might be a little more delicate but they're stronger than we give them credit for. I'm sure your Mum will look after them and give them lots of love and treats. They'll have a great holiday!

TAJ
They will be together and I am sure will get plenty of treats so why would they worry? Have a great holiday and they will be fine. I thought my new little ones would be ready late April/early May, but they came a week before we went on holiday and I did worry about them despite someone coming in to feed them, plus two other firends coming in daily as well just to watch over them as well. All were absolutely fine - just have a good holiday? Have you not been away since you had them, or is it just the 'holiday home' that is different this time? *mummy_hen*
Thank everyone...i know i'm being silly!! I just can't help it! We have been away before but they have always just stayed in their run and my mum has come to check on them/feed them, etc. I know this will be better for them as they love people and will get to free range plenty (if the weather sorts itself out of course!!). Hopefully they will love their holiday eglu enough to convinve OH to let me buy them one!!
