Eglu Go Up (with 2m run) - South Wales

My eglu door has a gap at the bottom when it is shut. Is this usual?

When you shut the door do you push the handle down to lock it? when I do I find that the door drops a bit

It is more the side of the door where it hinges, door is locked.

Edit: OK that was freezing My Eglu door has a half inch gap down the hinge side which looks gappy but normal and no gaps round the rest of it

You're a star! Thanks so much. Spot the neurotic new hen owner! Spent about 5 minutes crawling through the extended run putting them to bed - needed reassurance they're safe and sound!

 

Thanks for freezing for longer than necessary for me.

Don't crawl in the run, ewwwww! put a torch in the Eglu and they will all go towards the light, then shut door and remove torch through the eggport after a few days they will go in by themselves

Update on bed time...

 

Tonight at dusk, marmite.marmalade and fluffy took themselves to bed. Dusty wandered around scratching the ground alone. Fluffy came out and rounded her up and shooed her into the eglu. A truly magic moment!

It's fantastic when they take themselves off to bed, isn't it? Shows that they know it's home!

First night I put a lamp in the cube and the girls kept looking, going halfway in and then out again so I got on hands and knees and persuaded them that it was time for bed .Only one was trouble and had to grab her and shoe in Since then she has been the last in and first out in the morning. I thought they went to bed when it was really dark but 7.35-45 seems to be their bed time at the moment
