Looney
Hi there, Do you mean to cover the run? I used a shower curtain on my eglu run - got it for a few quid in woolworths (oh, happy memories of Woolworths!) Is it worth speaking to local breeders about availability of chooks? I wouldn't say that getting them now is a problem so long as you have someone lined up to look after them whilst you are away

Ain't Nobody Here
If you have a very windy garden you might be better with corrugated plastic sheets (about £6 each - you need 2). Held on with bungee ropes no amount of gales shifts them .
kerryegg
I use a charity shop plastic curtain attached with wooden clothes pegs. It has survived all the wind and gales for over a year. Even green to match the eglu and hasn't been damaged by chook climbing on top of it on a regular basis.

Margaret
Hi, Sorry for Silly Question, but Girlies only arrived Saturday. Have brought a rather nice red striped tarpauline for eglu, but following the previous thread re green one, will they be able to see out or doesnt it matter?? daft I know but if I cover the run they wont see out and will they get to hot? hope you dont think Iam too daft. Margaret.
quickcluck
Not daft at all!!! It's very stressfull before your girlies arrive...... As long as day light can get through as they need that I am sure it'll be fine. If you have it on, make sure only the top and sides are covered, not the front then they still get ventilation. Hopefully you wont need it too much coming into the summer. Id say if you have it on and know it's not going to fall down, peel it back as they like to have the wind in their hair!
