Prolapsed vent - am I getting it right?

Does anyone know where is good to get one of these fake eggs to "encourage" the little darlings to lay in right place!!!!?

I got mine from where I bought my pellets etc, so I'd have thought that yours would too if they sell feeders and water dispensers and medications and additives etc etc etc!!!

 

I'm sure somewhere I've read that a golf ball would have a similar effect if you can get one of those more easily than an egg.

If you can't get a pot egg, then just pop any old shop-bought egg in the nest. Just don't be tempted to crack it open after a few days there!

 

If you really want a pot egg, then I can get hold of them and will post you one if you like, but it's bound to be more expensive that way.

Thanks Claret, That is kind, I actually tried the golf ball which turned out to be quite funny... The girls only used the right hand side of the nest box. They then queue up and make a right old fuss until two actually laid in the run. I thought I could try to encourage them to use the whole nest box so this was the plan to make a "left" nest and put a false egg in. Yesterday was the first day of the test and the little darlings laid 4 eggs in the right nest and moved the golf ball in as well. i removed and remade the left nest and replaced the golf ball. This morning no eggs yet but the golf ball is back in the right hand side...

 

Will they only ever use one bit of the whole nest? Are mine just daft????

Try putting a football or plant pot in the right hand side, to force them to use the left.
