Gabby hatched all 8 eggs into the most beautiful chicks, great for a first time mum! 5 are from the free range (Heinz 57!) hens given to us and 3 from my best ex batts. Just to say I was a bit nervous of putting a cockeral with ex batts, worried about stressing them, but Matilda beat him up on the first day then they all got along fine! He is great with them, protects them and finds them treats to eat and they are much more settled with him around. Am thinking of getting 4 more ex batts as sadly some of my old girls have died this spring, but will try to keep them away from Rocky until they have settled in.
