Raina Posted May 16, 2009 Share Posted May 16, 2009 Hi all, I've read that chooks can't eat meat! but yesterday they ate a couple of snails in their eglu run and a massive worm. Is that OK for them? Guest Posted May 16, 2009 Share Posted May 16, 2009 Hi No expert but they do enjoy worms and grubs etc..my friend actively gives hers any grubs she comes across..not sure about feeding them ie meat..read on here somewhere someone giving dog food ..but i dont think its recommendedat all?>???? Budgies Posted May 16, 2009 Share Posted May 16, 2009 It's the DEFRA guidelines that people are referring to when they say the chickens mustn't eat meat Raina. They're supposed to help reduce infections and illnesses spreading between species, hence the no meat stipulation. However, your girls will of course free range on worms, slugs, snails (even mice and frogs!!) They LOVE them!! Your girls will be fine, by the way!
