emmah1984 Posted May 19, 2009 Share Posted May 19, 2009 Woo hoo!!! One of my chickens layed their first egg today!!! I was so proud, and she was quite proud of herself too! I felt like a little kid when i looked in and their it was in the nesting box!! never thought i'd ever be that excited by an egg!! We've had them 2 and a half weeks so i'm impressed! My first egg got broke I waited then till i had 5 so we could all have one. We waited until we had 3 so we could all have one but I made sure mine was the first one by marking it. Our first layer has now had a couple of soft shelled eggs but 2 of the others have started to lay now so it's not a problem, just hope she starts laying hard ones again soon! tidygirlsuk Posted May 26, 2009 Share Posted May 26, 2009 cool. I haven't had a double yoke yet. One of mine layed soft shell for the first 2 eggs which I know is common. But popped in a bit more ground baked egg shells in their feed just to be sure and the next one was hard. I bet that you are eating them as fast as they are laying them.
