Electricbarbarella
I have eggs, and a broody. I came back with White Pekin (cant believe how tiny this egg is) Black Pekin Buff Pekin 3 Wyandotte (I think they are all buff laced) White Silkie Gold Silkie. I am so excited. So how long do I leave them to stand for, and when is the best time to swap the eggs under the broody so she doesnt reject the new ones? Egluntyne
If it were me I'd pop them under her tonight, or when she takes a comfort break either this aft or over the Bank Hol. Expect a visitor when they hatch! Me.
Electricbarbarella
I'm banking on it. sure I will be bugging you along the way for advice, think we are all sorted though. Eglu has no roosting bars, a chick drinker and bowl of pellets so if she doesnt want to she doesnt have to get up. Wish someone had done that that when i was having my babies. Griffin
I agree, plonk them in tonight if you can. Good luck!
Lewis
I presume you collected them? You are really meant to rest them for 24 hours with the pointy end pointing down. If you're not doing the full 24 hours, set them at say 8pm tonight and count today as day 0. They'll hopefully hatch on day 18 (so, Wednesday 10th). If you want them to hatch on the Thursday set them tomorrow. Anything more than than and the fertility could start to reduce.
