Has anyone ever heard of these? I came across these when reading a gardening magazine, they were offering 'Tomtatoes' for sale. I thought it was just a miss-print, but on futher inspection, it turns out the Tomtato is a cross between a tomato and potato plant . Basically, the tomatoes grow on the top of the plant and the potatoes underground .

 

Has anyone every grown them?

Never heard of them they could be really interesting on an allotment or place with little place.

I agree that they sound a good idea if you are short of space and can double up on produce from the same plot.

 

Only problem I can see is if we have a Summer like the last 2, when we lost all of our outdoor plum tomatoes to blight

 

As the potato is also a blight sufferer I would be looking for the new plants to have some sort of blight resistance or you may end losing everything.

Yes they are. If you let your potatoes flower and set seed, they produce tomato type fruits first Don't think these are the edible kind though
