Spiders

Recommended Posts

I lost my spider phobia when we OH was given 6 stick insects. We kept them in an old fish tank with fresh hedge cuttings. Over time they reproduced and the little 'twiglets' were able to escape from the gap in the lid and leg it up the stairs

Having retrieved many of the runaways with little more than a piece of note paper and a bit of coaxing, spiders didn't seem a threat anymore, I treat them just the same, but they do run a bit faster :D

We no longer have the insects as they over produced and we decided to distribute them between friends and work colleagues.

Unfortunately a couple I donated to a work colleague who worked in a rather large office block overlooking a famous cricked ground in our area, caused quite a stir......

Kate & Sidney  were being kept as office pets in a large jam jar and their 'droppings' were being emptied onto the office plants, but when they hatched  and the caretakers found 'twiglets' in the heating system  they had to take their 'pets' home and hope the others starved through lack of suitable vegitation. :anxious:

We came across one of those spiders last night that refused to die. It was medium sized with a big body and very obese ?egg ridden. "Its a black widow" i shrieked to OH who gave me a withering look and mashed it, then it got up again - repeat mashing and it got up AGAIN and again, hysteria ensued and eventually it gave up ghost and went to the spider web in the sky. Relief all round. :anxious:
