Spiders

Recommended Posts

OH & I popped into Babies R Us today to pick up some bits and bobs. Isabelle was in her car seat on a trolley as it was a flying visit and when in the toy aisle i spotted a small spider crawling across the top of her coat *shudders*. OH grabbed said spider and threw it off - panic over!!! PHEW!!!

Just wondering if anyone could identify the spider for me as it was nothing like i have ever seen before?! (Or want to see again!!!!) I HATE SPIDERS!!!!!

The spider was about 5-7mm in length had black legs and a bright apple green bulbous body.

sorry Em.....don't know what type it is......i always run a mile when I see a spider  I can't stand them :anxious:

No me either! Thanks heavens the OH was with me otherwise i would have had to deal with it myself before Isabelle took a liking to it and as most things go straight into her mouth these days i would dread to think what would have happened!

Ooo I don't envy you at all & to be on Isabelle!

I was sat watching telly in bed last night, when I noticed a spider on the chimney breast. It was 4 to 5 inches in diameter & that is no joke! It also had a thick body. :anxious:

I grabbed my pillow, a sheet & my keys & was going to sleep in our caravan! Hubby was not impressed with my behaviour, tried grabbing the spider - who vanished & shouted at me loads to stop being stupid.

I had to get back in bed knowing that the monster spider was in my bedroom. I slept with my head under the cover all night - really bad nights sleep & far too hot I was. If it appears tonight, I am ignoring hubby - we will probably have a row over this flippin' spider - but I will go & sleep in the caravan.

Horrid thing!

I have just had a coughing fit laughing so much. Are you may I ask prone to exageration (SP)? I am. I dont let OH kill spiders anymore hes not good eyesight and always misses them. If they are large I splat them on the wall and then get the Jif and clean off the legs etc :vom: much more scared of snakes, but dont like any creepy crawly and if they invade my space they get whats coming to them bit like the naughty OAPs on another forum :roll:

Spiders were the only pets I was allowed to have with OH for some time - free range of course!

It might have been a crab spider - they are quite bulbous, but can be white, yellow or very pale green. Other than that I have seen loads of pretty green ones - usually a limey colour, but their bodies are not bulbous and I don't know what they are. Love 'em all.

Just checked out a site on British spiders out of curiosity - the pretty one that I have seen is a meshweb spider. But you might have seen a cucumber spider - green fatty bottom - comes under the heading of orb-web spiders (you don't have to look at them all - just click on those links at the top of the page!

*shudder,shudder*

I am not good with spiders either, but I don't mind the outdoor garden type - its the house spiders that freak me out

Worst spider experience?

I was one in a bath with heps of bubbles & I felt a presence. I looked over to see a MASSIVE Boris sitting on top of a heap of foam, just ready to spring at me. I swear it had biceps & everything.

Yeah see, green fatty bottoms & biceps, plus 4 to five inches in diameter.

We don't exaggerate (sp) do we Cinnamon?

It didn't make an appearance last night - it was probably too busy munching a fly or planning it's next form of attack.

You think I'm going over the top with my spider, you should see me near frogs!

A quick mashing with the loofah would've done the trick, failing that screaming for OH to rescue you. Having said that most men miss the things and you live in fear of them reappearing when you are alone. My ES had a dvd called spider in the bath, very funny but not if in the bath at the same time

When I first met my OH and visited his house, I noticed the hoover and a very large bag of pasta behind the sofa. I eventually had to ask why? He has a major spider phobia and couldn't bear the thought of catching one, so he would suck it up with the hoover then stick the nozzle into the pasta bag to 'batter the spider to death'.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

I don't mind them and often find notes in the kitchen in the morning, when he has gone to work, letting me know the whereabouts of a spider that needs evicting.

Just don't get me started on frogs :anxious::anxious:

Or toilet roll hanging the 'wrong way'

I used to do this too! I'd put huge bowls over them and then stick post-it notes to the door of the room telling my dad to get rid of the 8 legged monster :lol:
