Hi eveyone,

I'm new to this forum although have had an eglu cube now for a couple of years.

I lost a baby (8 weeks old) buff orpington banatam this morning from a fox from inside the run. The fox tried to dig it's way into to run in the night and failed due to the wire around the outside. However it managed to drag the little bantam through the wire of the run. Where it happened was at the back of the run where there is a thin gap for the levers to move and raise the. It looks like the hen must have stuck it's head through there to peck at the fox (they peck at our fingers through the mesh) and the was dragged through the gap by the fox. In this corner was a couple of feathers and then outside this corner was a larger number of feathers and a piece of bone. This is the only possible explanation I can think of as to that happend to the missing chicken and bits found outside the run.

On the good news front, the 6 remaining little chickens (2 buff orpington bantams and 4 pekins) are doing fine thankfully.

Cheers,

Carl

oh that is a real shame, at least the others are safe , is there anyone near you who can give you a little bit of wire mesh until they cant stick heads through?

Just to be doubly sure
