emmamakeup
Can anyone tell me the most reasonable place to get wormer and other chicken health products from? I'm trying to shop around but am not having any success.
Hen Watch
You do need to shop around as online prices/offers/delivery charges change all the time. Here are some online companies I know of, just a small list there are simply loads of others. Bokashi Bran – http://www.wigglywigglers.co.uk/ - a bran with micro-organisms that you can add (at 5%) to feed. Helps neutralise poop smell and they compost better. I found Garlic Powder just as good personally but I bought some bokashi as it is known to help if chickens have the runs. Citricidal Liquid – grapefruit extract – add to water for chickens with the sniffles. Omlet shop or http://www.highernature.co.uk or http://www.yournutritionshop.co.uk/ Diatom – aka D.E. or Diatmaceous Earth - Omlet shop or http://www.sprcentre.co.uk/ - natural algae product – internal and external lice/mites shrivel on contact. Add to feed, shake on them, add to dustbath etc. Poultry Shield – dilute with water to clean housing to kill red mite – gen disinfectant. Also from SPR above Poultry Spice - Omlet shop online Flubenvet Intermediate - Wormer – this is medication – buy online without prescription – tub lasts 2/3 years – I routinely worm them every 3 months regardless. No egg withdrawal. Buy online but search for best price as someone always has it on offer. You can use an organic natural product called Verm-X but some on this forum have found it less effective. http://www.petdispensary.co.uk http://www.chemistdirect.co.uk http://www.petmeds.co.uk/ Not online but from my local horse supply/tack shop, I buy Apple Cider Vinegar, Garlic Powder, Limestone Flour, Auboise bedding and all my layers pellets. Probably loads I have missed out, but hope this helps.
Egluntyne
Check out the P&P....it isn't always cost effective to buy from several different sites, when this is factored into the equation.
emmamakeup
Cheers for your great replies. I ordered some Bokashi bran the other day from Omlet and just as I clicked on this post the postman arrived - how bizarre. Yeah the p&p seemed to bump up the price when I ordered it so will watch this one. I called the farm where I got the chickens from but they were quite expensive
tooties
I used hyperdrug.co.uk as it was the only place I could find everything I needed at the time (flubenvet, limestone flour, zolcal D, garlic powder) and like you say, the postage works out more if you order from lots of different sites. the service was really good too..... Redwing
I get everything from my local CWG store which is lan agricultural merchants, they seem to be a chain, Countrywde stores and Mole Valley Farmers are very similar, I think a lot of these things are geographical but there will be one of these or something similar near you
