chick wiggle
One of my light sussex had a terribly dirty bottom and as its white it looked terrible and so today i washed it and dried it with the hairdrier! Bless her, she sat as good as gold and let me get on with it. However I didnt know what, if anything, i could wash her with and so just used warm water and a sponge. It definately looks better but not perfectly clean so is there any cleanser I could use to get it cleaner?
Egluntyne
I use a tiny amount of Ecover washing up liquid as a rule. Have you wormed the hens recently? A mucky bottom can sometimes indicate that they have parasites.
chelsea
Ditto to the above. Our girls quite enjoy a bum wash and I also use ecover and sponge. Check the hens for lice.
Yolky
Can I ask a q on this thread please. My has always had a bit of a dirty bum since I had her, no lice or mites. I do wash it but then as soon as she poos again its dirty. It isn't loads or anything but it looks like the poo has just slid on a few of the feathers as it comes out. Anyway I can't be washing her bum daily and I was wondering if I could trim just a couple of the feathers that are getting in the way? thanks
chick wiggle
Thank you, no mites or worms, do you get ecover from supermarkets or animal stores?
Ain't Nobody Here
Supermarkets all sell Ecover (I think!).
stoice
I've used dog shampoo before (the mildest, kindest one in PAH) and made sure i rinsed my bluebelle's knickers thoroughly. Do think this was ok?
