you can buy spray oil in supermarkets, i have some called one calerie or something like that. You spray it in the frying pan, it supposed to be good for dieting... Love sue

Oh, I think we've got some of that in the cupboard, the one he used looked more like an aerosol. I might give it a go though :D

I tried to use the spray once and fould it was rather flammable if you missed the pan and got the gas hob :lol:

Anyone who's bought an Eglu recently will have plastic roosting bars which are a doddle to clean, but the wooden ones can be more difficult. I think the oil was just a light coating to stop the poo sticking to the bars - it's only like oiling your garden furniture, for example.

I don't think the oil would attract any more flies than the poo does!

I'm not sure how good it would be for their feet. Surely it's worse for the environment too when you do a full scrub of the bars as you'd then get an oil slick when you mix the water and oil, oh well, I think I'll stick to my plain wooden bars!

I've heard this and WD40 is also apparently good for that sort of thing

I don't think it would attract flies but I don't like the sound of it all the same!

I agree with you there. I would not advise using WD40 as it can't be good for the hens and it stinks! I would suggest just buying plastic roosting bars if possible.
