Griffin
Yesterday the new ex-bat ladies free ranged unsupervised with everyone else for the first time. They'd been out a few times in the week but always with me standing guard to make sure they weren't bullied too much. They seemed to be thoroughly enjoying their freedom, quickly learnt their place in polite society (beneath the growers it would seem!) so yesterday they were allowed out all day. They were very good girls and put themselves to bed in their coop and all I had to do was shut them in and shut the door of their run last night. As I bent down to close the doors I saw something moving in the run It was getting dark, the base of the run is woodchip so it's not easy with not much light to see what was going on but I quickly realised it was a toad! If I'd closed the door of the run it would've been trapped so I had to stop being squeemish and pick it up I moved it a few feet away, behind the netting to where the new grass is growing and chooks aren't allowed. That toad is stupid! Why on earth has it chosen to visit my garden? He was dicing with death being so close to the ex-bats, I'm not sure if they'd know what to do with him but the rest of my mottley crew would tear him limb from limb! I hope he's had the good sense to hop off somewhere else because if he bumps into my lot today he's toast!

abwsco
We have a toad that lives in the chicken run and the girls ignore him. I think toads must be on their list of things not to eat
