Ygerna
My chicks are only 5 days old, but, my word they are so adorable it feels like they have been here forever Whilst I know the two Cream legbars are girls I am wondering about my 'mystery' chick. Ive spent a good while browsing the net for photos of day old chicks and I *think* S/he is an orpington, which would be really great. However, I've noticed a tiny, tiny feather growing at his/her ankles, on the front of the leg. Its tiny, really small, and because of its location I cant see any evidence of it on the photos I've found on the net, as they tend to concentrate of the cute little faces, and fluffy bodies. Because its so small, and insignificant really I dont think that S/he is a Brahma chick, all the photos I've seen show a lot more feathering that is visible. I am just canvassing thoughs really. Valkyrie
Orpingtons don't have feathery feet, but if they look similar perhaps Cochins, although they tend to be rather like trousers! Langshans (I want one) have a bit less feathering on their feet and Marans can have them if bred from the French strain (I think) - a possibility. But Feathersite is a good one to look at - they have a shortcut to chick piccies in the breeds. http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/BRKPoultryPage.html My Maran is bare legged. Fluffy feetsies next time round.
Ygerna
Thanks Koojie, that is the site I've been looking at to try and work out what S/he is. I know that its one of the following breed, as this is the list the seller sent me when I bought the eggs. orpingtons, silkies, marans, leghorns, wandottes, aracanas, rhode island red, brahama, and naked neck chickens, All the chicks I've seen on that site, of those that should have feathered feet haved LOTS and LOTS more feathers than Sunshine has. I will try and get a close up photo tomorrow.

Charlottechicken
One of my chicks was born with feathered legs, and I now suspect she is a French copper black Marans, as the colouring is about right. Do you have a pic?
