My new grand daughter

Recommended Posts

She was a week early but mum had been warned that her baby would be small. As it turned out her placenta and cord were small. Funnily enough that happened when I had my daughter (Annmarie is my husbands daughter) and she was three weeks early weighing only 4lbs 11oz. My consultant told me that my little baby knew things weren't going well and it was time to be born. It brought it all back. Amazing how the instinct to survive is so strong!

I thought my 5 hour one was quick!!! She was a homebirth too - I suppose she was quick compared to my first which was 30 odd hours who was supposed to be homebirth but ended up in hospital cos they thought I was getting too tired (the threat of the doctor gave me the edge though so she was born 10 mins after we got to hospital while they went to fetch the doctor  )!

A friend of mine has 'silent labours'. rather scary in that she doesn't know she's in labour

I arrived at her house one day to take the kiddies out and give her a rest, to find her on all fours in the hallway saying 'it's coming, get in here quick'! I called for the ambulance, grabbed the neighbour to watch the other two and was there to help at the birth, which happened just after the paramedics arrived a few minutes later. I was ever so slightly worried that I might end up delivering it myself :?
