ajm200
Hi everyone.. Just another quick question for the experts.. We've been having a few problems getting our pre-mixed bokashi and layers mash from our normal suppliers so are going to start buying it seperately again. What sort of percentages do you use. I need to bulk buy it monthly as we were getting through 20k a month with 5 (v. greedy) hens and have just added 3 more. I haven't got regular access to a car so can't buy weekly from a horse shop. thanks
fluffyknickers
I believe its 5% however I just add a very scientific handful to a grub! You dont have to do 5% you could do less if it was costing you too much - every little helps after all!

ajm200
I've estimated two 20kg bags of mash, 5kg of corn and 5kg of bokashi every 4 weeks and I'll go from there. Our new girls (meadowsweet 16wk pullets) are already bigger than our Omlet girls and are still too young to have combs so I guess they'll have hearty appetites whe they start laying
The Dogmother
I just bung a handful in when I mix up the feed.

quickcluck
5kg of bokashi will last you 5+mths, and it does go 'off' you could save some pennies there
ajm200
thanks for that pointer... There was a time when this kind of stuff was easy... back when I had a working brain.. now I have children, sleepless nights and auto pilot..
