Cat tunnels for catio wanted

My sons chicken Starley has been laying daily for 6 weeks now and eggs were normal although on the smaller side.

 

On the 5th June I found her daily egg smashed in the Eglu not in the nest. The shell was quite fragile although not soft.

That was the last egg she laid so she has not laid for 4 days now, when baking today I used the last egg she laid and noticed that the yolk is very pale, so now I'm really worried.

The stopping laying was worrying me enough but the paleness of the yolk has sent me into panic !!!

She seems ok and is eating and drinking although have been finding her nesting more than usual in the evenings but my husband says thats because she wants the best spot for the night so goes in early !!!!! Not helpful

If anyone has any ideas would be grateful and panicing that she may be egg bound

By the way i wormed them about 3 weeks ago so don't think its that ?

Keep an eye on her, is she still eating and behaving as normal?

 

Are they allowed to free range? As she may have started laying in the garden, or she might just be having a bit of time off and then start to lay again.

Thank you yes they do free range for short periods when i can keep a close eye on them. As lots of fox activity here ! Have looked for hidden eggs but none so far.

She does seem to be sitting more than normal but have let them out and she went off to dig as usual so just not sure.

Have tried to look at the vent area but husband away so difficult on my own will get a friend to help i think but don't want to stress her out either.

Sounds like she could be anaemic. Check her for lice and mites, then add some good quality poultry tonic to the water make sure that she eats her greens.

 

Any other symptoms?

Thanks will check her again and will go and see if i can get her some tonic too.

She is in the nest as we speak but has been doing that but not producing anything each time.

When you do examine her, check around her abdomen, so between her legs and going back up under her fluffy pants towards her vent. Is she hot or swollen at all?
