Hey everyone :D

I'm new to this so bare with me.

I was just wondering what you used to clean the hen house? A spray or something?

Getting my first girls on saturday, im so excited. Its taken us around 3 months to complete everything and get it all ready. Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Is it a wood house or an Eglu?

For my Eglus I empty the nestbox and tray of poo and bedding, use a short handled hoe to get any dried on poo iff the tray or inside of the Eglu then use a damp cloth with a bit of eco washing up liquid on to give it a all wipe over then spray with Poultry Sheild disinfectant, I soak the roosting bars in soapy water, dry them off with a towel and they go back in. Every now and again I take the Eglu apart and spray it with the jet hose

For my two wooden houses I take out the bedding and then use a short handled hoe to s"Ooops, word censored!"e the wood of all poo and bedding, I spray lavishly with Poultry Sheild and wait until everything is dry before shaking in Stalosan F powder disinfectant and add new bedding

Both types of housing get a good shake of red mite powder in all the nooks and crannys and some louse powder in the nestbox (or bedding if no nestbox) when they are clean, then they are ready for the chickens to trash again

Bucket of soapy water and a sponge or brush does it fine. I dry with a cloth. Haven't got poultry shield yet but will finish with that when available to prevent mite.

I've seen it done with a jet wash but don't have that luxury. My cube is much cleaner than my house.

Its very easy to do, the hard bit is keeping the chickens out of the bucket
