Katie
Hey everyone! I've not been online for a while as uni seems to get in the way! But now summer is here i've got a lot more time on my hands and therefore there is the addition of new hens tomorrow After Meringue passed away while I was at uni in February ( ) and her lodger went back to its original home, the eglu has been lying unoccupied for a few months. It feels wierd not to have little hens talking to me whilst i'm sat in the garden! So tomorrow we're going to look at and hopefully buy some more hens. I like the look of speckledys and bluebelles, but I have no experience of being around them! Does anyone know of their character traits? Friendliness is high priority!! I don't know whether to just stick with warrens choices, choices.. Katie x

Minnie&Moose
Our bluebelle was lovely. I would get another one if only my 9 year old would let me - but he can't bear the idea of a Martha look-a-like, so .. Don't know if all bluebelle's are like Martha but she was friendly, nosey, and liked a cuddle - so I'd vote for at least one bluebelle! Have fun choosing
Woodcat
hey I adore my speckeldy we got her at twelve weeks and she never seems to have grown up. She still meeps like a baby when you pick her up and has the softest feathers. she gets a bit parnoid because everyone ends up snugging her up into their neck and the other chickens bury their heads in her feathers in the winter. I really would recomend speckledys and i am now wondering if other speckaldies have really soft feathers or if i just got lucky

Chucky Mama
I'll add a plug for Bluebelles and also Amber Stars. Both have bags of character. The Amber Stars are great value to watch running, they are very speedy.

Katie
Helllooooo! Well, just got back from the chicken place with two.....speckledys! They are just gorgeous! Have put them in the run with a bit of corn and they are having a lovely peck around, they seem good friends but they aren't too pleased about being handled yet so I'm just going to leave them to themselves for today and just assist in getting them to bed...which will hopefully go well..! I wish i had taken a picture of them in the box because they were all cuddled up quietly! It was so cute. But I'll get some pictures up as soon as i can Now I just need to name them!! I think Oreo the 2nd (after the original oreo bantam we had) because I love the name, and i'm not too sure about the second name...... any ideas??!
