Margo's Got It On her - HELP Please

Recommended Posts

Margo really has it on her tonight. Sat having tea and there was an almighty commotion in the garden, I thought something had got in their run. I ran out and Margo was shouting at the top of her voice, I noticed on the floor there were a few of Hollys feathers so maybe they had a little argument, I don't know. The problem is she keeps bokkking every hour or so for no apparent reason, I have been sat on the edge of my the sofa all evening in readiness to run out and throw water over her, not that it did much good :( I keep putting different treats in to take her mind of it.

What I am afraid of is if she starts when they go to bed I am very very very close to neighbours :(

What do you all think :?:

must be something in the air. Two of my three were making a right old racket this evening; one they usually save for the crack of dawn! They have been fighting over an empty snail shell :roll: so I gave them some shell and grit which they gobbled up (such a neglectful mum  ) and they have just gone to bed now. The heavens have opened, so maybe it was the impending rain storm they were telling everyone about. I have to say mine never make any noise once they have gone to bed. Or none that you'd notice. So don't worry about it :D

I don't have an answer but I do have sympathy.... I too have had episodes of my chooks bokking VERY loudly early evening and me listening in readiness to react, worried about neighbours. Have you tried covering the run? I scattered a tiny bit of corn and then covered the run with a blanket for a few minutes and that seemed to shake her out of it for the rest of the evening.

Do you let them out to free range at all? Mine did this when I'd had them a couple of months and that and the feather pulling of one made me take the plunge and let them out. I think it was a mixture of boredom and frustration - certainly it stopped once they had a wider environment to explore.

A bit like children, they seem to go to bed more easily if they are tired out.
