I-O-W Festival

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else been watching the coverage on ITV2..? My DS was there (finished his history GCSE on Thursday, went to a mate's house and ditched his uniform and jumped on a train to the ferry!! ) I'm really not that careless a parent...his godmother was going too to keep an eye on him at a distance....Anyway...i thought the coverage was pretty awful...not the presenters they did a very good job..but we got to see nothing actually live..everything, and I mean everything was pre-recorded.....so tonight it meant the headline act Neil Young ( who I was actually looking forward to seeing) we didn't get to see at all because for some intriguing and yet undiscovered reason he finished his set early...anyway rant over. Ps it is actually impossible to spot a face in a crowd of 50K but that didn't stop me trying...well he is my baby :D

Haven't been watching the festival, but I was chuckling at the thought of you trying to pick out your DS in the crowd, of course you would try to, who wouldn't.

No offence to him, but it must be a bit like 'Where's Wally'!

My girl went to Reading for the first time last year & I watched all the coverage looking for her :lol:

I DID spot her are (distinctive bangle!) at one point, when she was watching the Manics & texting at the same time

I would have loved to have seen Simple Minds at IOW 8)

 I've been doing the same - watching the webcasts of the Download Festival trying to spot son. Impossible! Mind you I probably would not have recognised him. He's just come home absolutely black from the sun and the dust :lol:

I'm sooo going to Download next year.

I have spent the whole weekend moaning about not being there!!!

I saw some of the coverage on Sunday night, I thought that Fern Cotton and the other presenter coped really well when they were dumped in it by Neil Young finishing too early.

It made me cringe to see the likes of Ultravox though, they sounded great but they have aged so much, I know that I have too but I like to think I am still young. I am still a radio 1 listener and love modern music as well as the old stuff.

Only problem was Neil Young didn't finish early...he finished bang on time at 10.50 just before the fireworks started. There wasn't a single live "live" performance broadcast in any of the coverage...it was all pre-recorded if you see what I mean..For example on the saturday night you could clearly here the stereophonics singing Have a Nice Day in the background when we supposedly went over "live" it was a completely different track. I'm guessing it was to do with live music licences or something. But Neil Young was on stage from 9.00pm so if they had really wanted to show us him...and not other stuff from the Friday and Saturday night they could have....John Peel must have been spinning in his grave God Bless Him - damn I miss that man!
