*mummy_hen*
Hi All, Need your expertise again - i want to make a fruit cake in time for Sunday, i was hoping to infuse it with Whiskey if possible but not sure if i have left enough time for this? Anyways, would be grateful of any tried and tested recipes as want to make a fruit cake for my dad for Father's Day but not liking them myself i can't remember the last time i even made one!! Chook n Boo Mum
This one is simply yummy! I made several variations eg added spices, used gluten free flour added more/less fruit/nuts/alcohol, in the run up to Christmas..as it's supposed to be a Christmas cake (missuscluck's mum's recipe)..... but it was as good when just cooked as it was after a few weeks - I have one left in the dining room, maybe I should try it after a few months!!!! http://wiki.omlet.co.uk/index.php/Missuscluck%27s_Easy-peesy_Christmas_Cake Sha x

The children were tickled pink & I think that some of the cakes, once decorated, just about made it home before being devoured ! I put the excess mix into muffin cases so we could have tasters on the evening...........mmmm I'm drooling just thinking about them Thanks missuscluck Mum, your recipe is a total success Sha x p.s. Sorry I jumped in before you missuscluck , it just shows the esteem in which I hold your recommendation xx
missuscluck
I will pass on your cake worship I think lady's of a cirtain age must just be good at cakes. Its all the practice. My friends mum who is in her late 70's like my mum is, made some cakes for her grandsons birthday party. We got to take home a large Bara Brith cake as it was surplus at the end of the party. It was one of the nicest cakes I have ever tasted. Im hoping to get the recipie from her
