urban farmer
one of my chickens is moping around. Long periods of time sitting and generally looking sorry for her self. No egg for two days. She is the bossy one of the two hens but not bothered in running for treats etc. Been wormed, eatting and drinking just no sparkle or eggs. Can anyone help? Redwing
Perhaps she has a soft egg (softie) on the way?
Plum
Hi there, I would check her for parasites and just check if she has lost weight. Also compare her crop at night and morning. Is her breathing ok? Like Redwing says its probably a softie that seems to be the most common. Mine pick up really quickly when its passed. Hope she's ok soon. urban farmer
Thanks, are softies recurring problem, if it is that. Are they fatal? For info no paracites noticed or weight loss.
Egluntyne
I'd give her a soluble calcium supplement such as ZolcalD or som e limestone flour mixed into her pellets with a dollop of codliver oil as it contains Vit D, which helps with calcium absorption and metabolism. It might be a good idea to cut back on treats and keep her on pellets and water only for a few days too.
