welshnik
Hi everyone We got our hens today - Christmas and Easter ! We got them from Penrhiwgarn Poultry near Crickhowell (thanks for all the recommendations) and Easter is a Black Rock and Christmas is a Leghorn. Let's hope for lots of welshnik
welshnik
Forgot to say I've already ordered Garlic powder cos they smell already!! They haven't found the broccoli yet - think they too fazed by the grass and Easter found a slug earlier, which she enjoyed. Tomorrow I'm going to pick all the caterpillars off the raspberries and throw them in..............

meezers
Well I love your neatly stacked woodpile, but I can't see enough of the chooks to comment I'm sure they are lovely though. We got ours from the same place - maybe my Hattie is a distant relative of Easter
KarenW
We got ours today too Can't believe how much time I've spent sitting next to the eglu talking to them Don't suppose you've managed to get yours in the eglu have you? Ours are being awkward!
welshnik
Hi everyone Thanks for your messages. Here's a photo of the actual chooks!! http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=7619024&l=4fc6304c3d&id=736400462 KarenW - Easter was being awkward and clucking around looking lost as Christmas found the Eglu by herself. We had to put the whole cover up and my husband at one end making a racket to get her into the Eglu.... lots of fun in the sunshine but imagine it had been last week's rain?! Still, I think they're still a bit confused - and eating the grass like there's no tomorrow! What did you get? Meezers - Hattie's cousin says hello! atsw
Congratulations on your new chickens! Now that they have spent their first night in the Eglu they know where 'home' is. You should find that tonight they take themselves off to bed without needing prompting. Putting a torch in the Eglu sometimes works as it attracts them, but if its dusk it also attracts flying insects! We found a nudge with a long handled broom worked well in the past. welshnik
Hehe Andrew, I was just about getting to the broom stage when she wandered in herself !

Luckily the Miss Pepperpots have very different combs at the moment, so we can still figure out which is which Hubby managed to get them in just after I posted last night and hopefully they'll put themselves to bed a bit earlier tonight without using corn as bribery! welshnik
Ok, I have to ask -how on earth do you all get your chickens on your signature? I found the signature bit but can't work out how to get chickens on there
Space Chick
Ok, you need to do the signature as if you were doing a normal message when you have the smileys on the left hand side. You then copy this and paste it into your signature. Good luck!
