Happy chickens!
Lots of good suggestions - may need them all against brambles! I try and grow organically, but sometimes use roundup if really necessary, at least it doesn't stay in the soil (supposedly). If you can dig some kind of barrier into the soil to stop them spreading back into the patch you've cleared that can be helpful, eg old roof tiles dug in vertically, or even just a trench so you can see them making a run for it and stop. I have a weed wand which is quite theraputic - any dodgy weeds that I don't want to compost I leave to dry and then zap with the flame. chickenanne
brambles are very good at rooting from cut stems/stalks, so best not to leave the lying about just in case.
Falkor
I am back off down the lottie to "DEAL" with the weeds!
Alis girls
Go girl go - I am finally getting on top of my weeds (literally of course) - the potatoes have cleared some of the land and I have dug up the onions and weeded as I went. keep at it - just keep thinking of your lovely veg/flowers when the back aches and you are muddy and wet - I was in same situation last year and am now reaping my rewards. good luck
