Has anyone had any cosmetic surgery?

Recommended Posts

I think you should talk to the surgeon, see what your personal health risks are (I don't know if you're healthy, have high BP or anything like that) and then make your decision. I personally would go for it - what's the point in making all that effort to still feel poo about your body undressed?

Also, the kids at school sound horrid. Let's hope they all get acne.

You're weight loss is amazing; well done !!!!! It has immense health benefits as well as cosmetic ones, and must have taken an amazing amount of discipline and life change to get there, and to stay there too.

I'm not generally pro-cosmetic surgery: in some cases I just think people need to accept that they are not phyically ideal. BUT.... only you know how "bad" the excess skin issue is for you. Is it something you can only fix with surgery, or is it something you could "fix" by learning a different way to percieve yourself? After all, if it's making you depressed and shy then it's clearly an issue that needs to be addressed in some way, either surgicaly or otherwise. And I don't know how severe it is: i.e. how much extra skin there is - but obviously it does upset you.

If you can go see your GP about it that would be a good start: they will at least be able to give you a clear idea of the risks involved, and hopefuly refer you - after all there will be a long waiting list before you get to see the consultant. I always thought skin-removal surgery (that would be the proper technical medical term for it, of course  ) was fairly major and had higher risk than a lot of cosmetic procedures. ... but I'm no expert!

They are horrid and deserve every pimple, spot and oozing pustule.... . Remember next time they comment, half of them will eventually have bingo wings and the other half will have beer bellies!

You, on the other hand, have done an amazing amount on your own. Get that referral and research what would be involved. You can always change your mind if you don't like the sound of it.

My aunty had plastic surgery and loved it! she had a face lift! but she was very very sore afterwards. very sore.

If you had a crystal ball, looked into the future and saw that you had the surgery, but never met anyone you fancied and got in to a relationship would you still have it done? Or not bother?

ROFL to all about the kids - they are a pretty vile bunch generally where I am. My tutor group hate me so much they keep getting their parents to write in and complain and the glared/slow hand clapped me when they were asked to thank their tutors in end of year assembly. The lovely year 7 class I went off to teach next enjoyed the cakes I had bought for the end of year tutor party very much. Later tutor group whined that I'd done nothing for them - I just smiled and told them they were getting back what they had put in.

Body wise what I'm left with is rolls - I had rolls of fat before now there are still rolls there - I look like the michelin man! Then of course there are the bingo wings and the rather empty chest, it just looks very empty, not small but like there should be something else inside the skin.

As for a relationship who know what is in the future or if I even want one - What I don't feel is that I could even get close to someone on a temporary basis.

I have an appointment with the GP tomorrow - so I'm going to start there. My friend saw a Mr Iwagawu.

Hi Pengy,

Hope your appointment goes well tomorrow. I think that you are a strong lady and you know your own mind so just go for it! :D As others have said please do your research but as they have also said I'm sure that you will have done this already!

If you don't feel confident with what goes on under your clothes then this will be a barrier to you getting to know a potential new fella. And you ought to be able to feel confident about yourself (fella or no fella) considering how much hard work and effort you have put in.

Let us know how you get on xx

((hugs))

cathy

I read of someone who had something not dissimilar and she was stapled and stitched from boobs to bikini line, bruised and off work for 3 months. :?:(

I get the impression from what I've heard that it is a vast undertaking, so perhaps best done in stages? :?

I had a large op last year, and on the advice of a homeopath friend, took Arnica, Aconite and Anti-oxidants like it was going out of fashion - the docs were really surprised at the speed of my recovery, but it's the anaesthetic that takes ages to get out of your system. Lesley saw me about 10 days after my op, and I think she will agree that I still looked grey... not a colour that is usually associated with me!

Take your time, do research and never underestimate the time needed for recovery.

Well I saw the doctor this morning and he had no problem giving me a referral in fact he was very positive and encouraging.

Ideally I would like to do it in stages- wipe out the next 3 summers though! I have a feeling that it's going to be costly even to get it done on the NHS as my employer is big on unpaid leave.

So just got to wait for a hospital appointment now!

No idea how long. TBH I know I'd be looking to get the surgery in nearly a years time so I'm not fussed if there is a bit of a wait for an appontment. Other than that I would like to know whats what and what they are likely to offer me.

The doctor seemed to think it was a huge issue that I felt unable to socialise. Didn't like to say that I like to sit and chat to my friends online!

That's a very positive first step !

If they'll do it spreading it out would let you minimise the time off in any one go. Interesting thought though - with patient confidentiality do you actually have to tell them what the operation is for ? and how would that impact time off if they didn't know why you were having an op just that you were and it was an NHS op therefore one they felt you needed ?

I was just about to say the same thing. My friend had a boob reduction, and as she is a Postie, obviously couldn't work for a while.

The Dr. signed all her sick notes as her having a shoulder operation for an old injury
