My elderly (but very energetic) saxophone teacher fancies staying around the Lyme Regis/Dartmouth area in late August early September. I think that he would like to be near the Front in a good B&B or maybe hotel. Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations?

I know both places well but can not recommend any particular establishment. Dartmouth is lovely and very popular with the older generation so it may be exactly his cup of tea. I would maybe check out the hotel/B & B listings on here for each town

Oh, he said that he fancied staying in The West Country and mentioned Lyme Regis and Dartmouth but I think that he will be pretty open to any suggestions.

Dartmouth is very handy for all of the south Devon coast and is very pretty. Lots of lovely cafes/restaurants (cream teas ) and the town will be a hive of activity if he goes the end of August for the annual Dartmouth Regatta, so is definitely worth considering.

That might well appeal to him. He is a lovely man and is interested in just about everything.

My parents live in Charmouth, about 4 miles east of Lymme Regis. Very pretty village with campsite, b and b's and hotels. Got heritage site status, lovely beach, fossil and nature museum, shops and several pubs. Well worth a visit.

Lyme Regis is nice, quite a sandy beach and there are lots of good cliffs and rockfalls nearby to go looking for fossils in. You can also go kyaking around the Jurrasic Coast-my friend's done this and loved it!

These cottages are a short drive from Lyme Regis and in countryside

Wonderfully authentic farm view of piles of old equipment from an upstairs window of one of the cottages as a previous visitor commented in the visitor book it's almost a Tate exhibition worthy view

 

If you like good food it's definitely worth pre-booking the Japanese food.

Thanks Patricia, they look lovely. I spoke to him tonight and he thinks that he wants to say on tje Seafront. I will keep details of the cottages though for myself.
