FLUBENVET... Two simple questions.

Recommended Posts

No they aren't very clear are they, everytime I use the stuff I get befuddled, however you simple measure out 2 kg of feed & add the measure of Flub (is it 6g?) & make sure it's mixed thoroughly.

Then put the mixed pellets into the empty feeders & ONLY feed with dosed food for the 7 day period...I usually still give a few treats, but often only the handful of corn the get them back in the run after free ranging.

If you don't think they will eat 2kg mix up a half measure & another half measure if needed as the week progresses. Some people add a slug of olive oil so the Flub sticks better to the pellets.

Apparently they eat what they need and dose themselves as appropriate............... :|

Hope this helps :)

Hi.

The Flubenvet dosage works out at a smidge over 1g per chook spread over the 7 days. So if you have 5 chooks, you can weigh out 5g into a small pot, and then yu give them that over the course of the 7 days. There's quite a wide margin of error, and you can give up to 2g per chook without any problems.

I cut up cucumber, or grapes, or whatever I have handy, and coat them in the powder. Then I catch each of my girls in turn and give her one of the laced treats.

Obviously this method only works if you are able to handle your girls and you don't have a lot of them, but I find it a good time to check them over for general health, moulting, etc.

I tried giving the treats to them en masse, but it usually ended up with some greedy guts getting lots and someone else not getting any.

There used to be a very helpful message in a sticky on ones of the forums (fora?!) giving dosage guides for small flocks (last time I did it it was something ridiculously small like a 2.5ml spoonful in a week's worth of mash) but I can't find the message.

Perhaps someone cleverer than me can give a pointer to it!

It is **here**

If it is 2.5% Flubenvet, the correct dose is 1.2g per kg of feed. This ratio to be fed over 7 days and and medicated feed left over after this is to be discarded.

Cut back on treats and free ranging during the course, so that the hen eats mosly medicated feed.

Given this way, according to the manufacturers instructions, the hen will eat the correct dose according to its age and weight.

I found the easiest way was to mix it in with their food, that way you know they are all getting the right amount as the larger hens need more than the smaller ones and as it is in their food they all get the correct amount. Any food left after the 7 days just discard.

I only had to mix two lots in the week so it was really easy and no stress of catching each bird in turn every day to make sure they each have their grape or whatever . Good luck :D
