Chicken picking at feet

My OH and i have finally got round to putting on the corrugated roof to our WIR from A4U.

 

How on earth do we fix the middle panels to the roof without standing on it (not advisable, even for a lightweight like my OH)? We can't work it out and have left it for now, puzzled!

I know you guys will know the answer so thank you in advance!

I'm assuming you have the sides up, put the support batons around the top and have dropped the meshed roof panels into place and secured with screws? If so, you can put a reasonable amount of weight on the roof, perhaps not a full person, but you can certainly lean on and over it.

 

I secured the 50mm, 38mm, 24mm and 11mm batons on top of the mesh roof panels (they create a slope), and then worked along with the corrugated UPVC sheets, screwing them to the batons as I went. I have pictures, but my web-server is down at the moment, so can't link to them .

yes, we have done all the sides and roof panels and put the batons in place with the batons over the top as instructed. Done the first lot of side screwing ( ) but worried about leaning too hard on the top to get the middle panels in...no hurry with the server but any tips would be great! Thank you, I knew you would help!

My run is only 6' wide (2 standard panels). With a ladder up the front or back I could lean over to the middle and therefore get screws into the supporting batons. Rather than putting all my weight on one of the panel frames I had a sturdy length of wood which allowed me to spread any weight across the top of the frame. I'm not very heavy mind.

 

Here's the link to my web-pages (** linky **), the first three rows of photo's show how the UPVC is supported. After those photo's were taken I added an additional baton 38mm in height above the door as the uPVC sheets started to 'sag' at that point in heavy rain. It's fine now.

I have to admit I had no hand in actually building my run, I was there purely in a supervisory capacity . My friend's OH (not very tall & not particularly skinny!) managed with a ladder but was helped by the fact that my run attaches to the garage.

 

Like ATSW, I also added an extra baton. I was worried about the weight of snow. We also added an extra bit of wood screwed on top of the plastic - to prevent the roof ripping off if strong winds got underneath.

 

 

We also screwed one of the batons to the run side with a right-angled metal "thingy" (I'm sure it has a real name!)

Thanks guys - I think the fact that we have an 8ft wide run is the problem actually but am sure we will manage somehow..the pics and tips are much appreciated!
